Plan Your Winter Pool Stay

A winter pool trip works best when the accommodation is part of the plan. At Crystal Lake Pool House, swimming is indoors and your registered group reserves the entire home. You do not need an outdoor activity to make the stay worthwhile. The house is in Crystal Lake, Illinois, northwest of Chicago; plan the drive from your actual starting address.

Before you choose your dates

Check available nights, the total price, minimum-stay requirements and cancellation terms on Airbnb. A two-night stay can leave a full day between arrival and departure, but this is a planning suggestion, not a promise that particular dates or one-night bookings are available. The house has three bedrooms and two bathrooms and accommodates a maximum of six overnight guests.

Plan the drive and arrival

Check the weather forecast and current road conditions before leaving. Allow extra travel time when conditions require it and keep arrival instructions handy. Check-in begins at 4 PM. Early arrival is not included or guaranteed; any change must be agreed with the host. Arrange dinner or groceries so your first evening does not depend on a rushed shopping trip.

Keep winter and swim bags separate

Pack warm outdoor clothing and footwear for the journey, plus swimwear, personal goggles, a dry change of clothes and a bag for wet items. Bring any personal toiletries and items your children need. Ask the host about a specific essential before travelling rather than assuming it is supplied. Use non-glass drinks containers around the pool.

A relaxed indoor itinerary

On arrival, unpack and read the house and pool instructions before swimming. On a full day, alternate supervised swim time with meals, rest and time together in the house. The kitchen makes it possible to prepare your own food. Plan activities around your group's energy and keep outdoor plans optional. The traditional sauna is an additional included amenity; follow the posted operating and safety instructions.

Pool time still needs a safety plan

The pool is approximately 5 to 14 feet deep. Children, non-swimmers and inexperienced swimmers need close adult supervision whenever they are around the water. There is no lifeguard. Life jackets are available, but adults must check fit and suitability and continue supervising. The children's slide also requires adult supervision. Never bring glass into the pool area.

Departure morning

Checkout is at 10 AM. Leave time to dry swimwear, pack personal belongings and follow checkout instructions. A final swim should not delay departure. Late checkout is not guaranteed. Quiet hours are 10 PM to 8 AM, and visitors or small celebrations require advance host approval.

The overnight reservation includes the entire house, private heated indoor pool and traditional sauna. Hourly pool sessions and day passes are not offered.
