Ask what each person wants
Before leaving Vernon Hills, ask who wants to swim, who prefers time out of the water and which activities everyone enjoys. Agree that swimming is optional. A private pool can be the main reason for the trip without requiring every guest to use it.

Plan a shared part of each day
Choose a meal, conversation time or a game that everyone can join. Bring any games, books or hobby materials you want to use rather than assuming they are supplied. Keep dry activities in suitable areas away from splashes and avoid scheduling every shared activity during another person’s swim.

Keep supervision separate from participation
A non-swimming adult is not automatically the pool supervisor. Discuss responsibilities clearly and choose an adult able to supervise attentively. The pool is approximately 5 to 14 feet deep and there is no lifeguard. Children and inexperienced swimmers need close supervision. Never assume someone reading or preparing food is also watching the water.

Give people permission to change plans
Build breaks between swimming, meals and rest. Someone who planned to swim may decide to stay dry; someone watching may want a later session. Confirm individual access needs with the host before booking. Sauna use is optional too and should not be treated as the required alternative for non-swimmers.
Give every guest a reason to look forward to the stay
Ask each person to choose a shared activity and an individual option. Make sure the plan includes dry activities with materials your group brings or has confirmed. Do not automatically assign supervision to the person who does not swim; agree on responsibilities explicitly. Revisit the schedule if most of the group is uninterested in the pool that motivated the booking.

  • This is a cute little house with a great pool. The location is close to a lot of food and shopping options. The beds varied in firmness so it’s worth checking out which work best for you. We adored the pool the most. The kitchen has limited materials so I recommend bringing spices and cookware. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
